6k 300g plain carbon fiber fabric characteristics and uses


- Characteristics: High strength, its tensile strength can reach about 3800MPa - 4300MPa. It is lightweight, with a mass of only about 1/5 of that of steel. It also has the characteristics of corrosion resistance, aging resistance, high temperature resistance, and UV resistance.


- Uses: In the aerospace field, it can be used for fuselages, rudders, etc.; in sports equipment, it has applications such as automotive parts and fishing rods; in industry, it can be used for engine parts, transmission shafts, etc.; it can also be used for the production of fire-fighting clothing in the fire-fighting field, as well as concrete and metal pipe reinforcement.


Difference from 3k 200g plain carbon fiber fabric


- Appearance texture: The texture of 6k carbon fiber fabric is coarser than that of 3k, with a stronger sense of lines, and the texture of 3k carbon fiber woven fabric is relatively delicate.


- Thickness and weight: The design thickness of 6k 300g plain carbon fiber fabric is 0.45mm, and the design thickness of 3k 200g plain carbon fiber fabric is 0.3mm.


- Production process: 6k 300g carbon fiber fabric is woven from 37.5/10cm 12k carbon fiber filaments, and 3k 200g carbon fiber fabric is woven from 50/10cm 3k carbon fiber filaments.


- Tensile strength: 6k 300g carbon fiber fabric has a tensile strength of 3800MPa - 4300MPa, and 3k 200g carbon fiber fabric has a tensile strength of 3600MPa - 4000MPa.


Advantages and disadvantages


- Advantages: 6k 300g plain weave carbon fiber fabric is higher in strength and hardness than 3k 200g, can withstand greater tension and pressure, and is more suitable for application scenarios with higher strength requirements. At the same time, due to its large weight and thickness, it performs better in some situations that require better protection or reinforcement.


- Disadvantages: The cost of 6k 300g plain weave carbon fiber fabric may be relatively high, because more carbon fiber tows are used in its production process, and both material costs and processing costs may increase. Also, due to its thickness and weight, it may not be suitable for some applications that have strict restrictions on weight and thickness, and is not as flexible and light as 3k 200g fabric.
