Glass fiber is glass fiber, which is a commonly used chemical material. Many friends do not know much about the production process of glass fiber. Generally, there are two main types of glass fiber production: crucible drawing method and pool kiln drawing method. The glass in the glass is melted into molten glass, and then made through the steps of drawing, drawing, and threading; the pool kiln drawing method is relatively simple. Silk. Let's take a look at how fiberglass is made.

1. How is glass fiber made?

Glass fiber is the abbreviation of glass fiber, which is an inorganic non-metallic material with excellent performance. There are mainly two specific production processes:

1. Crucible drawing method

This is a two-time molding method. First, the glass raw material is melted into glass balls at high temperature, and then the glass balls are melted for a second time, and then drawn at high speed to make glass fiber strands. This process has disadvantages such as high energy consumption, unstable molding process, and low labor productivity, and is basically eliminated by large glass fiber manufacturers.

2. Pool kiln drawing method

The pyrophyllite and other raw materials are melted into a glass solution in a kiln, and after removing air bubbles, they are transported to the porous bushing through the passage, and are drawn into glass fiber strands at high speed. The kiln can connect hundreds of bushings through multiple channels for simultaneous production. This process is simple, energy-saving and consumption-reducing, stable in molding, high-efficiency and high-yield, convenient for large-scale fully automated production, and is the main production process of glass fiber.

2.The production process of glass fiber

There are two production processes of glass fiber. The following takes the crucible drawing method as an example to introduce the production process of glass fiber:

Selection of raw materials → washing with water → drying → putting into crucible → preheating with torch → ignition heating at 1100-1300 °C → glass melting and adjusting temperature → wire drawing → wire drawing → softening → wire feeding → wire clamping and winding → wire finishing → Packaging → Finished Products → Warehousing. There are several key steps:

 1. Start a fire

A good crucible is placed on the crucible rack, the crucible must be flat, and then add glass to 1/4 of the crucible, not exceeding the size of both sides of the crucible. When igniting, it is best to have two people, one with the preheated blowtorch and igniter, and the other person to control the temperature switch. It should be noted that: before ignition, first preheat the crucible with a blowtorch; do not move the igniter too fast when igniting Or too slow; if you find that the inner glass liquid is bubbling and the temperature is uneven, use a spoon to break the bubbles, and then mix the glass liquid in the pot back and forth evenly.

 2. Drawing and wire drawing

After the ignition is completed, wait for the temperature of the molten glass in the crucible to reach 1100-1300 °C, and the molten glass will automatically flow out from under the eyes. Make sure it is straight and pull it from the outside to the inside, so that the wire is not easy to break. The clips should not touch the iron handle and the crucible holder to avoid electric shock. After pulling the whole plate of wire, connect it by hand and pull it a few times, and then start the wire.

 3. On the wire

Before threading, first spray softener on the roller, wrap the pulled silk on the roller, press the indenter firmly, push the roller by hand, after the thread is pressed firmly, turn on the motor, start running, and enter into normal production , keep feeding, keep adjusting the temperature.
